Jaysen Greenwood was the definition of a true "animal lover." Both during, and after, his time on Earth.

Jaysen would have turned 22 on December 15th, 2017. Sadly, his life was cut far too short after he was murdered on May 19th, 2016. He was, and still is, loved by many of his family and friends in the community. In his memory, those loved ones decided to honor his memory in a way he for sure would have agreed with.

Jaysen's mother, Jessica, has donated a few times in the past in remembrance of her son, but wanted to really take that next step and make an even larger impact on the lives of the shelter animals. She reached out to everyone she could on Facebook, and boy did they respond! In about a month, her post asking to help with Jaysen's memorial donation had over 350 shares! People from all over were responding and willing to help make this birthday a memorable one. Even a few local businesses in Hibbing donated as well! By the 15th, every one had donated enough to fill up an enormous trailer full of food and supplies, and a few hundred dollars to assist with vet bills. Jessica got even more than she was expecting, so she spread the love by donating to the Precious Paws Humane Society in Chisholm too! There were also many people who came in separately to donate in his memory during the weeks leading up to his birthday. It's amazing how much of an impact just one person can have on so many others and change their lives forever. We thank everyone involved in the memorial, and of course Jaysen's family and friends for their generosity.
