Tobie
On October 26th, 2016, Puddin' the cat gave birth to 6 little kittens. As we arrived at the shelter the next morning, one had already died. Over the next week, 4 more kittens wouldn't be able to fight their illness, and would ultimately meet the same fate. Puddin' came to the shelter as a stray, and one can never be sure what kind of diseases a cat can pick up the wild. Puddin' was old enough and strong enough to fight off her sickness, but when it was passed on to the kittens they didn't stand a chance. Although, there was one survivor. His name is Tobie.
Tobie was taken away from Puddin, both for his own safety, and her inability to produce enough milk to feed him. Tobie was fed kitten formula every 2 hours just to keep up his strength, and at night he was taken home by the shelter manager Leslie. Over the next 2 months Tobie grew very quickly, well, grew into a little troublemaker that is! He would run all over the adoption floor and tease all the cats in their kennels, and even managed to swipe a couple pieces of their food when they weren't looking! He got to see Puddin' too! Although she would play with him sometimes, she didn't really seem to care that he was around.
Tobie stayed in the office with Les and her pit bull, Maggie, every day. Maggie took over for Puddin' as Tobie's mother. She protected him, cleaned him, kept him warm, and would never let him out of her sight! The day came where Tobie was finally ready to be left at the shelter like the other cats, and not have to be taken home anymore. But on that same day, a family came in looking to adopt a new baby kitten for Christmas. Just as they arrived, Tobie popped out of the office, and they fell in love right away! (Little did they know they were about to take home a little monster!)
Tobie's owners called to update us about him a few months later. They said he was almost too much to handle sometimes! He liked to hog all the attention, and if he wasn't getting it, he would nibble and scratch to get his way. Even though he has to learn some manners, they still love him and wouldn't trade him for the world!
